About me

My music passion began when I was seven. The family had just bought a keyboard for us all to use and learn with. Only for my parents and sister to find that it had gone from a family keyboard to MY keyboard within a few days. As my parents noticed how much I enjoyed playing the keyboard they decided to put me up for Piano lessons. After years of playing the piano, getting involved with the school play and choir I was really into music. When I was 14 I decided out of no where that I was going to record a few of my piano pieces. So I purchased NCH's MixPad music software, and used this to record some performances on my piano. I found the process of recording and editing my performances surprisingly fun and interesting. I began writing and recording some of my own compositions with the MixPad software.

As I developed some skill in recording and editing I came to realise that MixPad was an extremely basic music software so I decided to upgrade to Sonar Home Studio 7XL. With this software I was able to develop my skills at a much higher level. I also began writing more interesting songs as by this time I was able to play guitar, bass, drums as well as the piano. It was not long after I upgraded to this software that this is what I wanted to do for a living. I began researching different recording techniques as well as mixing and editing.

Through an opportunity I got through a work colleague of my Mum, I was able to get work experience at a Film and Television Studio called Boom ltd. I was there for one week, and even though I was only observing, I learned so much about Mixing and Editing at a professional level. It had spawned a new interest in sound for Film and Television. This happened the summer before I started year 13.

I now am now using Pro Tools 10 and am very happy with using Pro Tools. I am currently studying Audio & Music Production at dBs Music in Plymouth. My strengths that I believe I possess is my ability to push things to it's maximum potential on a project. For example, if there's a particular effect I am trying to achieve on a project and I don't possess the effects plug in I will do my absolute best to try and recreate that effect by other means, and I don't give up until I achieve that certain sound. My biggest weakness is my speed. I generally take that little bit longer to produce a finished product. My only positive of this weakness is that even though it does take that bit longer, normally the finished product is at a high quality.
